Pitcairn Islands Tourism is pleased to present our October 2019 small group Explorers Voyage to Oeno, Pitcairn, Ducie, and Henderson Island.

Lying in the central South Pacific, the islands of Henderson, Ducie and Oeno support remarkably pristine habitats and are rarely visited by non-residents of Pitcairn.

The 18-night/19-day tour includes 11 days cruising around the remote Pitcairn Islands, the world’s 3rd largest marine reserve, visiting UNESCO World Heritage listed Henderson Island, seldom visited Oeno and Ducie Island, and a 4 day stay on Pitcairn Island, home of the descendants of the HMAV Bounty mutineers since 1790.

This will be the first ever multi-island voyage of its kind--visiting all four of the islands in the Pitcairn Islands Group!

Tour Leader

Andy Schofield has worked in a variety of roles for the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) since 1991.

His most recent role has taken him to work closely with the UK Overseas Territories of Tristan Da Cunha Island Group, St Helena and Ascension in the South Atlantic, British Indian Ocean Territory and the Pitcairn Islands Group.

Work in the overseas territories is wide ranging and diverse and covers supporting and developing conservation and fisheries departments within territory governments, habitat management, research and monitoring.

In early 2015, Andy spent three months within the Pitcairn Island group working closely with the Pitcairn Islands Government to create a better understanding of the phenology of the previously unstudied island endemic Pitcairn Reed Warbler as well as taking part in the 2015 Henderson Island research expedition.

More Information

The Pitcairn Islands Group forms the UK’s only Overseas Territory in the vast Pacific Ocean. Located near the centre of the planet’s largest ocean, the isolation of the Pitcairn Islands is truly staggering. The island group lies around 2,200 km from Tahiti, 2,100 km from Easter Island, and over 5,000 km (approximately the distance from London to New York) away from both New Zealand and South America, which represent the nearest large land masses.

A visit to these legendary islands will grant you experiences few others have witnessed. Untouched subtropical island environments, pristine waters, endemic flora, bird and marine life, an unforgettable sea voyage, incredible hospitality, lasting friendships.
