Interview with the Pitcairn Artisan Gallery Team

In the heart of Pitcairn Island lies a hidden gem—the Pitkern Island Artisan Gallery. The on-line Artisan Gallery is a special place where our local artisans can showcase their handmade crafts and products, ensuring that every piece carries a bit of Pitcairn’s spirit to the world.

Our Order fulfillment is handled with great care by Melva Evans (pictured here) and each carefully prepared parcel is posted out to the  world via our Pitcairn Post Office.

Running the gallery is more than just a labour of love, especially with orders coming in almost every-day from all over the globe. Our close-knit team works hard to keep everything running smoothly. With modern technology, we manage orders and shipments efficiently, connecting with customers near and far.

The gallery offers a range of unique items, from all kinds of hand-made wooden carvings and woven baskets to jewelry, stamps, maps, flags, T.shirts and locally made soaps.

According to the gallery team, the best part of their work is seeing the joy our products bring to people around the world.

‘’It’s great to get emails with a happy thank you and pictures. We’re so appreciative of our customers’ good will and patience. We really are far, far away so they have to wait for their items to make that long  journey from Pitcairn to their doorstep.’’

Our mail ship operates every three months, so parcels take time to reach their destinations. They travel to New Zealand, then enter the international postal system. Once they enter NZ Post, we have a tracking number to share with customers, but even then that doesn’t activate for a few weeks! Though it’s a long journey, parcels do eventually arrive!
